CNAP’s Climate Projections are Used for The Nature Conservancy’s NV Report

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) reached out to CNAP researcher D. McEvoy to help incorporate climate change projections of SPEI (Standard Precipitation, Evaporation Index) into their analysis as a future climate threat to Nevada groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs). McEvoy used the LOCA evaporative demand projections that he produced for a previous CNAP project and published in an article in Earth’s Future. McEvoy provided LOCA basin scale SPEI for all 256 hydrographic areas in Nevada and co-authored a report with TNC. TNC is planning a series of meetings with the Nevada Bureau of Land Management to share the report results and discuss strategies for incorporating the information into GDE management planning.
